Can I use Visual C++ with Juce?

I discovered recently the API Juce. I work on Mac OS, but I want my synth available also on Windows. I've installed a XP on my Mac.

Can I use Visual C++ with Juce, or do I really need Visual Studio? Visual C++ is free, but Visual Studio is very expensive! I can not buy it!

The free versions of Microsofts c++ compiler will work, regardless of the name of the product.
