Here's a little story... Back in 1985, the Cocteau Twins recorded a track called Pink Orange Red which, to this day, is still one of my favourite pieces of music. Then, a decade later, they recorded a stripped-down piano-and-vocal acoustic version of the same track - on their Twinlights e.p. - which, to my mind, had a far better vocal and a hauntingly-beautiful piano motif not present in their original version.

I suddenly came over all "Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice" (...doooon't maaaake me choooose!!!) and now couldn't decide which version I preferred.

So this track is an attempt at a cut-and-shut remix, taking the piano and vocal version of Pink Orange Red and adding the drum, bass and Mellotron parts from the original, along with Robin Guthrie's signature huge guitar intro and outro.

Some of these elements are taken from the original 1985 recording, and some I re-recorded myself to create an interpretation exactly mid-way between these two versions of my all-time favourite song.

Now I can die happy.

Constructed from 'Pink Orange Red' by Cocteau Twins, from 4AD 'Tiny Dynamine' e.p. and the Fontana 'Twinlights' e.p.
