JUCE Licensing

JUCE is released under the Gnu Public Licence, which means it can be freely copied and distributed, and costs nothing to use in open-source applications.

If you'd like to avoid the restrictions of the GPL and use JUCE for a closed-source product, you can purchase a commercial licence. This can either cover a single product or can apply to all products that your company releases.

Prices

• Commercial licence for a single product - £399 (+ VAT for countries in the European union).
• Commercial licence for any number of products - £699 (+ VAT for countries in the European union).

Academic discounts are available for universities - contact me for more info about this.

What does the commercial version give you?

The commercial license basically lets you use Juce in your product without having to release your own source code, as would be required if you use it under the GPL.

There's no restriction on the number of developer seats, and you get a perpetual license to use any versions of JUCE before version 3.0, or any versions released within a year of your purchase. (As I currently don't have any plans for a version 3.0, that should keep you going for quite a while!)

Support

Buying a license doesn't include any support or extra warrantees about the software.

If that statement worries you, I'd invite you browse through the forum, where you'll see that in practical terms, Juce's support would beat hands-down most vastly overpriced support packages that other companies offer. If anyone reports a (genuine) bug, my policy is to drop everything and fix it - usually posting a fix on the forum if it's critical to somebody's work.

If you're looking for more than just bug-fixing, and would like some expert help in building or designing a Juce application, then I sometimes take on short contracts - please contact me and I'll let you know my rates.

If everything looks good and you want to go ahead with a purchase, then here's what to do:

• Download the appropriate contract, and fill-in your company's details where required.
• Print out a copy of the contract and sign it.
• Either scan and email it to me (this is preferred), or you can snail-mail it to:

• I'll sign and return this by your choice of email/fax/mail, with an invoice. You can pay using a direct transfer or by cheque, (the invoice will contain all the necessary bank details for doing this).
